Ryan Zogheb (USA) was born in New York and graduated from New York University with a major in studio art in 2022. Since graduating, his paintings have been in galleries in New York, Paris, and Berlin. He exclusively works in grayscale painting, and the main subject matter of his work are self portraits and florals. His paintings are surreal, haunting, and emotional as they hold the subconscious feelings, such as inadequacy and comparison, experienced during the process of creation.
«Self portraits throughout art history show the artist’s most honest reflection of themselves and their artistic practice. By creating my self portrait from the mirror I capture the experience of looking at yourself repeatedly, while having an image of yourself in your head already. After painting or drawing my self portrait, I destroy it. I blur it in the hope of finding myself within the rendering or reflection in front of me».
