Paula Fraile (Spain, 1982), is a painter and muralist holding a BA in Fine Arts from the UCM, Madrid. Currently living and working in Leipzig (Germany), Paula’s relation with painting is based on the study of color, light and their infinite synergies. Photocollage is an essential tool for the artist’s creative process, fusing landscapes and realities that end up embodied in her vivid paintings.
«My project arised in relation to the physical spaces and environments each fellow artist was in relation to over the residency period. After the first weeks, I asked them for some documentation and I ended up with more than 200 photos of clouds, houses, horizons, rooms… Enough material to make collages and build new landscapes. The result is a series of canvases using fluorescent pigments and oil. A painting, a spatial portrait for each participant.»
