Montserrat Serra Nonell is a painter and creator of artist books conceived as pictorial objects. Her practice lives in abstraction and a quite, underlying narrative that comes from her personal archive of photographs, books and magazines. She works with antique materials, textures and color as autonomous languages capable of generating poetic, ethereal and warm compositions. Her research centers on time and its perception, a dimension so subjective that it often questions its own existence and brings her back to the presence of the here and now.
«Experiencing Iceland through the Nomadic Art Retreat has been a precious gift. It was a total immersion into intense emotions and inner talks that are slowly transforming into clarity and new ideas. Being surrounded by enchanting colours, raw beauty and vastness became a journey of trust in the unknown, in others and in myself, bringing me back home deeply changed, with deep gratitude and a wider sense of time.»
Glacial light listens,
colors breathe in snow and water,
time widens, heart trusts.
