Isobel Francisco (Phillippines, 1988) is a visual artist focused on painting. Since her first group show in December 2011, she has exhibited in Hong Kong, Germany, China and various corners of the Philippines. Her works currently involve figurative tensions exploring narratives of anguish, loss, and the constant examination of what constitutes humanity.
«Recreating an encounter similar to bodily amputation and the itch of the phantom limb, I seek to create work whose main subject is what once was. After subjecting the surface to details of personal human experiences, these images are forcibly and violently snatched away. What hangs on display is the absence. What weighs heavily is the emptiness. What stares back is the ghost.»
