Anikó Antalfi (Hungary) is a photographer based in Mexico City. She studied Theology and Literature at Babes-Bolyai University, then graduated in Philosophy and Communication in Cluj-Napoca. She got a master’s degree in Photography at Moholy- Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest in 2015 and moved to Mexico in 2018. Her work combines constructed images, performative elements and documentary techniques.
«During Bonfire’s Rites of Passage artist residency, I worked on a series titled Cumbia con el subconsciente which I started last year, combining texts, my own archive and constructed images, finishing one chapter and a dummy of a photobook.
The narrative revolves around the concepts of desire, choice and commitment, taking a lyrical form, as a poetic and visual reference to the associative process inherent in dreams and all divination techniques that use symbolic language».
