Laura Nieuwenhuis’s work is process-based. Nature, landscapes, and human intervention are at the core of her practice, where she creates her own subtle interventions. Continuously exploring new possibilities and insights, she seeks to connect with her subject matter through a range of materials and techniques. While photography is almost always the starting point of a new work, her recent focus has shifted towards bookmaking.
Besides being a visual artist, Laura works in creative vocational education helping students uncover their creative potential and navigate their own artistic processes.
«Bonfire gave me the opportunity to explore what I really want and helped me to understand what I need to do for it. It gave me huge confusion, lots of insecurities and a little bit of resistance. But I accepted and trusted the process and came out with a clear heart and a clear vision. It felt like a huge cleanse. So thank you very much to make me (re)think and (re)consider everything.»
